Heyo!
Welcome to the site! This webpage is about the Scoggins and Beal Ospreys, two pairs of ospreys that live near Forest Grove, Oregon. I get out to the nests usually on a weekly or every other weekly basis, so I try to keep you as updated as I can on these magnificent birds. You can also find me on Facebook, Youtube, and on Flickr. Have a look around the site, and enjoy!
Here's a slideshow of some of my pictures out at the lake and Wetlands. I will keep it updated with my latest albums and pictures, so feel free to have a look once in awhile. There are more of my pictures in the Gallery section. Check it out!
News
6/20/14 -So far this year, both Star and Sparky are back at Beal and already incubating. Dash has also arrived, possibly as early as March 24th, but we had a confirmed sighting on the 26th. Two male ospreys have been periodically seen at the nest, but it is not Hog, although at first we thought one of them was. Dash has not been letting these male ospreys land on the nest, yet. Now it is far too late to have any hope of Hog coming back, sadly, so we will be waiting and watching to see if Dash accepts one of the two males that have been hanging about the nest.
There will be no chicks at Scoggins this year, due to Dash not accepting a mate in time. We don't see her out at the nest very much anymore, but she is in the area, and will be until mid-August, before she heads south early.
We have THREE chicks at Beal this year! Congratulations Sparky and Star! The chicks will be known as (eldest to youngest) B3, B4, and B5. The three chicks are still being brooded by Star, and all three look very healthy and curious about the world around them.
Star feeding the little ones on May 23rd. Here, they were only seven, five, and three days old.
